All state schools are overseen by a governing body. The governors are responsible for many aspects of the school from monitoring the budget to the appointment of staff. The Headteacher is in charge of the day to day running of the school. The membership of the governing body is drawn from representatives of the local authority, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and a proportion of governors are co-opted.
