Welcome to the Foundation Stage!

Welcome to Reception's class page. We are happy to welcome all our new children and parents to Middlewich Primary School. Our school day starts at 8.50am but our doors will be open from 8.40am for you to drop off your child. Due to current circumstances we are unable to allow parents into the school building. If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to phone or visit the office and if needed one of the teachers will contact you at a convenient time.  

Within the classroom we have fun, stimulating activities and role play areas for the children to explore. There will always be a range of activities to promote creativity, language development, social skills and technological skills within each classroom. The learning continues in our outdoor area where the children can play, explore and investigate across a number of challenging and engaging activities.  During each week all children will take part in adult led activities related to our current topic and with a focus on numeracy and literacy skills. The children will also move their learning forward with their own independent activities that they will access around the environment. 

Part of the day that we all love is our story time. We love to read and share a range of stories with the children, from classic stories and contemporary fiction to information texts. 

Your children will take part in PE lessons on Wednesdayand Friday each week. Please ensure your child brings a drawstring PE bag with a labelled PE kit into school. Please also send your child with a water bottle with their name on it. A healthy fruit snack will be provided each day, alternatively you can provide your child with their own healthy snack e.g. bread sticks, rice cakes or fruit. Children in Reception do not need to bring their own pencil case.

Reading books will be sent home with your child from the week beginning Monday 13th September. Your child's reading folder must then be returned to school every Thursday and new books will be sent home the following Monday.
